Girls Inc. Indy, Colts Form Partnership to Empower Young Women in Greater Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS (February 15th, 2024) – The Indianapolis Colts today pledged their commitment to empowering young women with a groundbreaking new partnership with Girls Inc. of Greater Indianapolis (Girls Inc. Indy).

As such, the Colts will support several Girls Inc. Indy initiatives this upcoming year, including:

  • Eureka! Eureka! builds girls’ confidence and skills through hands-on programs featuring science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) activities. Scholars participate in a five-year STEM program that begins with a four-week camp the summer before eighth grade.
  • Young Women in Leadership (YWIL). YWIL is a year-long program designed to enhance the leadership skills, college preparedness and career development of young women in Indianapolis.  YWIL prepares high school girls for the workforce, post-secondary education, and leadership in their communities.
  • Project Accelerate. Through Project Accelerate, young women will attain relevant leadership and skill development positioning them for professional leadership roles in an evolving work environment. Programming supports participants through graduating high school, instilling the skills and confidence to pursue post-secondary plans, navigate college, participate in paid internships, and connect and establish relationships with mentors.
  • Summer Camp. A typical day of camp includes Girls Inc.-focused curricula, activities from community collaborators, structured free time and weekly field trips, creating safe spaces for participants to build positive relationships with peers, explore their interests and learn.

This collaboration goes beyond financial support, as the Colts players and staff will engage in Girls Inc. Indy events throughout the year, including participation in “Mock Interview Day,” introductions to flag football through various workshops and camps, job shadowing opportunities, and field trips.

“We believe in empowering girls and young women to be strong, smart and bold in school, sports and all aspects of life,” said Colts Vice Chair/Owner Kalen Jackson. “We’re hopeful this partnership will provide great outcomes for our Girls Inc. participants, as well as produce lasting memories for our own players, cheerleaders and staff.”

“Girls Inc. of Greater Indianapolis is absolutely thrilled about this new partnership with The Indianapolis Colts. Our Girls Inc. participants will have so many new strong, smart, and bold opportunities across various programs thanks to this collaboration. The partnership also gives us the opportunity to lean into girls in sports, and all that is possible by learning and shadowing incredible women paving the way.” said Lindsay Gramlich, President & CEO of Girls Inc. Indy.
