A Mother’s Perspective: How Girls Inc. is Shaping Azaria’s Journey

We sat down with Lesley, a proud mom of Girls Inc. Indy participant Azaria. Azaria joined Girls Inc. Indy in seventh grade and is now in eighth grade, actively participating in the Eureka! and Young Women in Leadership (YWIL) programs.

“Girls Inc. is a wonderful and amazing organization for young ladies—preparing them, empowering them, and encouraging them for their future,” Lesley shared. “I’m very impressed with the maturity I’ve seen in my daughter since she joined Girls Inc. I appreciate how the program empowers girls to be confident and equips them with the tools to be socially aware. So many things are changing in this day and age, and Girls Inc. provides a solid foundation that keeps girls stay grounded and not get lost in the shuffle of life.”

Like many parents, Lesley wanted to find the right path for Azaria but wasn’t sure which direction to take. “As an older parent, I wasn’t sure whether to push her toward the traditional college path. Nowadays, we all know that kids need more than just, ‘You go to college, and that’s it.’ They need the tools to navigate life, and I think Girls Inc. does a great job of empowering them to be independent individuals.”

Through her involvement in Eureka! and YWIL, Azaria is gaining invaluable experiences that will help her grow into a confident, well-rounded young woman. Lesley is excited to see how her daughter continues to thrive with the support of Girls Inc. Indy.
