In response to the challenges of 2020, Girls Inc. has strategized new and inventive ways to continue inspiring all girls to be Strong, Smart, and Bold. We need volunteers to support these efforts! Virtual and in-person volunteer opportunities are available. Whether you are returning or new to Girls Inc. Indy, we welcome you to join our latest initiatives.

Assembling “Personal Power” Boxes for Virtual Programming

Each girl participating in our Virtual Programming receives a “Personal Power” box with programming supplies, materials, and Girls Inc. swag. Volunteers are needed to assist in assembling and filling boxes to get them ready for shipping. Box assembly takes place in-person at Girls Inc. Administrative Offices. All staff and volunteers must complete a health screening upon arrival, wear masks, and remain socially distanced. No more than ten volunteers are allowed on-site at a time. Anticipate a three-hour time commitment for each session.

Virtual Mentoring Panel

Girls participating in Virtual Programming spend time learning about themselves and their power. Girls demonstrate this by learning personal power words, creating personal mottos, and drawing a positive self-portrait. As a mentor panel volunteer, your role is to join a scheduled session, listen to girls present their projects, and provide a space for girls to feel proud and accomplished by giving positive feedback and asking questions. Each session will last 75 minutes, and we ask that you are available for the duration of each panel you are scheduled to attend. Sessions are hosted in a secure Zoom meeting room. Girls Inc. will provide the meeting link information before the session.

All potential mentors must complete a 45-minute volunteer Mentor Panel Training. The training will cover more detailed information about your role as a mentor and best practices for interacting with girls. Volunteers need to attend only one training to participate.
