Touchstone 2017-103

Each year, we host the Touchstone Awards Luncheon to honor outstanding women in our community, and to celebrate the girls we serve. In addition to celebrating these women and girls, the Touchstone Awards is also our largest annual fundraiser.

The money raised at the event is a profound investment in local girls who are in a particularly formative time of their lives. Now, more than ever, we recognize the importance of offering our unique Girls Inc. programs to girls ages 12 to 18. The middle and high school years are critical to girls as they prepare for a healthy, educated, and independent future beyond high school. Therefore, all of the money raised next Thursday at Touchstone will go towards middle and high school Girls Inc. programs during the 2018-2019 school year.

We are very excited that five middle and high schools have already committed to providing our programs this next school year; however, making this a reality will require additional funding. A six-week Girls Inc. program costs roughly $3,000 to fund. We have set a goal of raising $30,000 the day of Touchstone, which would enable us to offer 10 additional Girls Inc. programs for middle and high school girls during this upcoming school year. Program costs include curricula development, training and equipping volunteers to facilitate these programs, and promoting our programs among this age group. In short, we cannot do this without your help.

If we are able to meet this goal and provide 10 new programs next year, that will be an additional 120 girls who can receive Girls Inc. programming on healthy relationships, economic literacy, and identifying their own beauty within.
