This month, Girls Inc. of Greater Indianapolis is celebrating all the volunteers who have helped make educational programs possible for girls in the Greater Indianapolis area. We are very grateful for the members of the community who lend their time to help girls by leading our programs. Without our network of volunteers, we would be unable to carry out our mission of inspiring all girls to be strong, smart, and bold!
In the last year, Girls Inc. of Greater Indianapolis has been fortunate enough to have 343 volunteers. Our demand for volunteers is always growing. There are a few ways to get involved:
Volunteer with one of our six-week programs
Program Volunteers engage girls at partner locations throughout greater Indianapolis using our fun, hands-on, and highly research curriculum. Volunteers select their program (date, time, and location) based on their schedules, making their volunteer experience uniquely suited for them. Programs are delivered in one-hour sessions for 6 consecutive weeks. Programs take place Monday-Friday between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.
To be a six-week program volunteer, you must be 18 years or older, apply online and participate in a one-on-one interview, pass a background check, and complete Girls Inc. training program (includes CPR & First Aid certification).
Be a toolkit volunteer
Toolkit Volunteers assist with the assembly of dozens of program toolkits to be used by our 6-week program volunteers. All toolkit volunteer days are held at the Girls Inc. of Greater Indianapolis office, located at 3935 North Meridian Street Indianapolis, IN.
Become a Lunch Bunch volunteer
Lunch Bunch programs are a one-time, one-hour career workshop for girls that is delivered over a lunch hour. Mentors talk to a small group of 5-10 girls about their personal and professional work experience. Lunch Bunch programs take place Monday-Friday between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. based on our partners.
To be a Lunch Bunch Mentor you will need to apply online, pass a background check, and complete a Girls Inc. questionnaire.
