What will be your role at Girls Inc. of Greater Indianapolis?
While at Girls Inc., I’ll be working as the Public Relations & Marketing Intern, which means I get to reach people through our social media accounts, our blog The Inspiration Project, and our monthly eNewsletter. Basically, I’m going to be sharing how awesome Girls Inc. is with an online audience! I’m very excited to start posting about positive, fun things like Motivational Mondays, and STEM-focused Saturdays, and working to create constructive posts for girls on social media.
What about the Girls Inc. mission appeals to you?
Girls Inc. works to inspire girls to be strong, smart, and bold, and I think that is exceptional because many influences in girls’ lives don’t tell them they should be any of these things. I think most of the time, society and popular media instead tells girls it’s most important that they be pretty, or popular, or nice, or easy to get along with. Sometimes, that message of what they should be gets in the way of who girls actually are, and who they want to be. Girls Inc. tells them that they are smart enough to know who they are, strong enough to stand up against their society’s expectations, and bold enough to truly be themselves! That’s an awesome and empowering message to send, and something I want to be a part of!
How are you strong, smart, and bold?
I think I’m strong, smart, and bold because I love to fill my life with positivity, love, and creativity! I think it’s important that you surround yourself with happy and positive relationships, activities, and opportunities. I love art, books, and creating new things, and I love feeling like I’m helping make my community a better place.
