At this point, I’m sure your inboxes are full of #GivingTuesday emails. However, instead of deleting every single email, you should be excited! #GivingTuesday is more than donating; it’s about celebrating generosity and generating awareness for your favorite nonprofit organizations.

#GivingTuesday was created in in 2012 by a cultural center in New York called 92nd Street Y as a way to celebrate and encourage giving. Now, organizations all over the world participate in #GivingTuesday to encourage and amplify small acts of kindness.

Today is the first time that Girls Inc. participates in #GivingTuesday! For us, today is an opportunity for greater Indianapolis to celebrate the impact that Girls Inc. is having in our community and to raise both awareness, as well as, new donors and new donations.

2015_GivingTuesday_HeaderThe greatest advocates for our #GivingTuesday campaign are our online ambassadors. We set a goal to have 50 ambassadors, and currently, we have 77! Thank you so much to those who are participating!

Our ambassadors are encouraged to share their Girls Inc. story and inspire others to make a contribution. If you would like to become a Girls Inc. ambassador, there is still time! Visit our webpage for more information and the official #GivingTuesday communications packet.

If you would like to make a contribution to Girls Inc., click here. If you do not want to donate money, you can easily donate your time! We are always looking for new volunteers to lead one of our programs. Also, feel free to share an #unselfie on social media to let your followers know why you give.

Check our January Enews to see the results of our #GivingTuesday campaign! If we reach our goal of raising $35,000, our President and CEO Pat Wachtel will dance the Macarena on social media. Please help us make this happen!
