Who says women can’t be strong, smart, and bold on the court or on the field? Being an athlete takes hard work, dedication, and passion. And, all women can do just that!

Former 2004 Touchstone honoree, Tamika Catchings, makes her mark with the Indianapolis Fever team. Tamika knows what it takes to be strong, smart, and bold. As the Indianapolis Fever begins the 2015 season, Tamika continues to be a strong team player on the court! In college, Tamika graduated with honors and earned a 4.0 GPA her last undergraduate semester. Today, she encourages all girls to be bold through her organization, Catch the Stars! This past weekend, Serena Williams won the 2015 French Open for the 20th Grand Slam title. Her hard work paid off on the court. Serena Williams was fighting off the flu the day before her match. But she did not give up and came out strong! She is now the first woman to win the Australian Open and the French Open back-to-back.

FIFA Women’s World Cup kicked off this past weekend in Canada. With 24 national teams competing, women from around the world come together for a diverse game of soccer. The FIFA Women’s World Cup began in 1991 allowing this year to be the 7th quarterly tournament. The women competing for the 2015 World Cup title are strong through hours of practice. They make smart decisions on the field, knowing the competition they are up against. And, they are bold because they express their love for soccer!
