Clara WrightPositive, dedicated, and encouraging are just a few words that begin to describe what Clara Wright brings to each and every one of the programs she facilitates.  This Fall II cycle, Clara is wrapping up her third consecutive program with Girls Inc. and, once again, her interactions with our girls have been inspiring. Her contagious enthusiasm sets a wonderful example for our girls and we feel so fortunate to have Clara’s continued support as a volunteer and friend to the agency.

Why Clara Volunteers for Girls Inc.

“When searching for volunteer opportunities the concept of facilitating programs to assist girls in building self-esteem, taking appropriate action against bullies, developing a basic understanding of money, and choosing to become good friends really spoke to my heart.

I love that Girls Inc. supports girls from elementary to high school with a strong positive message that girls have importance.  Also, I this organization really supports its volunteers. Special thanks to the Girls Inc. expert staff Sarah Goetz and Adrianne Slash who made me feel welcomed and trained me well!”

What is your favorite thing about volunteering for Girls Inc.?

“Having the privilege to be with the same group of girls through more than one program stands out for me because I am able to get to know the girls better and to build on the previous program.  I also enjoy listening to the girls’ comments as they involve themselves with the activities related to the various sessions’ key messages.”

Why do you think Girls Inc. programs beneficial to girls?

“The Girls Inc. programs are focused on girls developing good relationships with themselves, money, and other girls which are all keystones to healthy socialization.”

Have you learned anything through volunteering with Girls Inc.?

“I have learned that the girls really enjoy participating in the programs.  Also, that the facilitators need to be adaptable in each setting.”

Advice for prospective Volunteer Program Facilitators:

“I found it most helpful to become very familiar with the material before seeing the girls. It is also important to be very encouraging toward all the girls.”

Thank you Clara for inspiring girls in greater Indianapolis to be strong, smart, and bold!
