I am so excited to be serving Girls Inc. for another ten months as a part of Public Allies Indianapolis’ new 2nd year Fellowship (www.publicallies.org/indianapolis)! I loved my 1st year experience at Girls Inc. so much that I decided to return for the pilot of the 2nd year Fellows program. For this program, we will have the chance to apply what we have learned in our 1st year as Allies. This year, Public Allies Indianapolis has twenty-two 1st year Allies and five 2nd year Fellows serving at 22 different nonprofits in Indianapolis. Not only will the 2nd year Fellows continue to have the opportunity to participate in a service project and serve a nonprofit, but they will also have the opportunity to provide support and guidance to the 1st year Allies as well.

During my 1st year experience I primarily facilitated programs for our girls. In this new position, I will focus more on advanced aspects of nonprofit management. This year, I will develop a parent and alumni engagement strategy, lead a task force for our program materials process, and work with our AmeriCorps VISTA Advisory Council.

I have worked directly with youth for seven years, and I am sure I will miss spending time with our girls every day. But I am eager to expand my horizons and learn new skills so I can become an effective leader in our community. With my new adventure ahead, I am most looking forward to reaching out to alumnae and hearing how Girls Inc. positively impacted their lives. Have you been a part of Girls Inc. before? Tell us how Girls Inc. has helped you to be strong, smart, and bold!
