Over the past two weeks, I’ve probably said the phrase “Stop. Shoot. Give.” thousands of times. I’ve talked to several hundred parents, visitors to Indianapolis and new volunteers about Girls Inc. I’ve dribbled a basketball more times in one hour than I have most of my life. I’m pretty sure I was even shooting free throws in my dreams. But in the end, it was all worth it.Â
As part of the NCAA® Women’s Final Four®, Girls Inc. was invited to host and benefit from the Stop. Shoot. Give. event, an activity encouraging spectators to stop, make a free throw, and give back. It was a tremendous success! We recruited more than 170 new volunteers to support our efforts, raised nearly $4,000 and made countless new impressions by introducing Girls Inc. to a new audience. We had several hundred kids stop at our booth to test their basketball skills. Seeing the look on the kids’ faces when their basketball drops through the net was priceless! Here are a few of my favorite moments of the week.Â
