Summer has come to a halt and school-aged children all across Central Indiana are back to school. I am pleased to say that many girls in the area will be met with Girls Inc. programs much earlier this year, than in any year before. In previous years, Girls Inc. of Greater Indianapolis offered only three program cycles as a part of our outreach model. This year we will take on an additional cycle, thus allowing time to reach more girls than before.

Since last spring, we have also been hard at work engaging new program partnerships across Greater Indianapolis. One of the challenges many organizations face in outreach is finding partners that are a good fit. I am happy to share that has not been a problem for me and I’d like to commend one of my new partners, Westlake Elementary School in Wayne Township. This partner is coming on board and jumping in headfirst! With the mission of inspiring all girls to be strong, smart, and bold, our aim is high. We’ve set our goals high and having partners that are willing to do the same makes my job that much easier. Principal Dennisha Murff has set Westlake Elementary School on track to have every one of their 3rd-6th grade girls complete Work It Out and Redefining Beauty by the end of the school year. Although this goal sounds ambitious, it can and will be done. I am glad to be a part of this journey with this particular partner as well as our other 30 partners this cycle.

Program partnerships can grow from an idea to reality in mere minutes. If you or your school/organization is interested in becoming a partner please feel free to contact us at programs@girlsincindy.org. We’d love to get you involved.
