2018-2019 Young Women in Leadership

Registration for the Young Women in Leadership program is closed for the 2018-2019 school year.

Young Women in Leadership (YWIL), is a program by Girls Inc. of Greater Indianapolis, serving high school girls (grades 9-12) to focus on leadership development and college and career preparedness. In YWIL, girls will learn or further develop the following skills:

  • Create a personal development plan, outlining short and long term goals
  • Explore higher education options
  • Explore career fields
  • Explore financial opportunities to sustain higher education
  • Learn the importance of monitoring self-care, time management, and managing the important steps toward self-reliance and success
  • Improve their ability to listen and express themselves
  • Learn to work effectively with others, and emerge as leaders in a group
  • Serve their community
  • Be an advocate for themselves, as well as those in their community


September 2018 – May 2019 (Meetings occur twice a month)

  • $25 registration fee due at the time of registration
  • $55 participation fee due once admitted into the program
  • Fees include t-shirt, snacks, meals at meetings, field trips, and program supplies

Requirements to join YWIL:

  • Previous Girls Inc. experience preferred
  • Must be between the grades of 9th-12th
  • Must have demonstrated prior leadership skills
  • Pay $25 registration fee if new participant
  • Pay $55 participation fee if selected to participate in 2018-2019 program year
  • Must attend 90% of meetings
