Emily completed a year of AmeriCorps VISTA service as our Video Production Specialist on Aug. 19. We will greatly miss her incredible video skills, keen ability to tell the Girls Inc. story, and fun-loving spirit!
I thought I knew what to expect from my year of service with Girls Inc. I knew I was going to gain valuable experience making videos for marketing, training, and communications. I did not, however, imagine walking away with amazing friends, a newly-fueled passion for social media, and increased respect and admiration for Girls Inc. and all nonprofits in Indy. My largest hurdle to jump was definitely learning all the new technology and equipment, but once I mastered it all, it was also one of my greatest accomplishments.
Working in the development and public relations department at Girls Inc. was amazing. I have immense respect for all of the women that I collaborated with daily. I hope that the videos I completed for Girls Inc. help the organization for a long time to come. Though I knew about Girls Inc. before starting my work here, I was unaware of the strong bonds that the Indy nonprofits have. I am so proud to be a part of that special group now. I am excited to move on to my next venture and hope to find work utilizing all my passions and skills with communications, PR, and videos!
