Each year my department sits down, in comfy chairs ideal, to brainstorm and hash out our messaging focus for the next year. Our goal is to find a theme that can engage girls during summer camp, spur creativity for our messaging, provide new ways to describe the impact of Girls Inc. programming in fundraising appeals, and shape our annual Touchstone Awards. After much debate, and sharing some quirky ideas that remain on the notepad, we settled on “Empowering Tomorrow’s Champions.”
You may have already seen references in our communications or blog posts about this “champions” theme. Our Volunteer Appreciation Lunch reminded our outstanding volunteers that they are champions for girls every day. (See our Facebook album for a recap of the event!) Our staff had fun with the champion theme during our staff campaign earlier this month. Our six-week summer camp will encourage girls to “Find the Champion in You” with fun, hands-on programs. Among the many opportunities to incorporate this message, I am most excited to mold our champion focus into our 2012 Touchstone Awards luncheon on July 12. The Indianapolis community is fortunate to have many women who inspire positive change and embody the strong, smart, and bold example we describe to our girls. Our guests and girls on July 12 will discover how four women, our incredible 2012 honorees, are empowering tomorrow’s champions by lighting the way as role models for girls.
Another highlight that guests continue to share as their favorite part of the program is hearing our summer camp girls describe what they’ve learned, favorite activities, and how they’ve grown during their Girls Inc. experience. The Touchstone Awards luncheon is an opportunity to affirm champions in our community and encourage the next generation of female champions.
Tickets information will be available soon, but if you or your company is interested in being a sponsor, reserve your spot today! Read more about the “Lighting the Way: Empowering Tomorrow’s Champions” Touchstone Awards luncheon and 2012 honorees!
