Commonly known as “Wonder Woman” in our office, Barb Fleming, owner of BAF Corporation, has done wonders for Indianapolis girls again and again. A former Girls Inc. of Greater Indianapolis board chair, Barb was integral to our move to our current Meridian Street building. By donating her time, negotiating with her subcontractors, and keeping our vision and mission at the forefront of the remodeling project, Barb brought a tired 60’s era building back to life. Barb has continued to be involved after her term on the board as part of our finance committee. Being the “Wonder Woman” that she is, Barb recently stepped up with a matching gift as part of our By the Women, for the Girls Campaign.

How were you first introduced to Girls Inc. of Greater Indianapolis?
A neighbor & friend of mine (former board member, Nancy McMillan) first asked me to speak at a "Lunch Bunch" group. Meeting all the girls got me hooked.

Why do you support Girls Inc.?
I love the mission, plus I'm always impressed with how the staff continues to do so much and yet try to keep the budget to "so little."

Why do you think it’s important to inspire others to give?
The more people give, the more the amount grows...besides they just might find they get more from the girls and the organization than the amount of time or money they are giving.

If you could give every girl or young woman one piece of advice, what would it be?
Like and love yourself enough to become independent. Then you can like others & give to them as well.
