Of the 6 total elements of the Girls Inc. experience, we’ve covered our first three essential elements of the Girls Inc. experience: Girls-Only Environments, Mentoring Relationships and Intentional Programming. The fourth essential element of the Girls Inc. experience is Researched-Based Curricula. Similar to Intentional Programming, this element is very relevant and researched, in order to confront the serious needs of girls while building knowledge, skills and attitudes that enable girls to be competent, confident individuals and adult women.

At Girls Inc. Indy, staff are continuously researching to ensure our statistics and program materials are up-to-date and relevant for the girls we serve. Some other signs of this element include:

• Staff adapting and updating program information to meet current girls’ needs;
• Staff performing assessments and reviewing evaluations to further develop programs;
• Staff attending Girls Inc. training and program sessions to gain additional knowledge about the effectiveness of programs.

For parents and guardians of girls, we provide resources and tip sheets called Girls Inc. Guides to help to inspire girls at http://girlsincindy.org/programs_for_girls/girl_resources/. These Guides are updated with the newest research available every year. There are six different Guides we provide for girls and their parents and guardians:
