Programs for Girls

Programs for Girls

Our programs educate and empower greater Indianapolis girls to be confident in their own skin, prepared for their futures, proud of who they are, and ready to take their place in the world. Our programs are heavily researched and outcome-based, and they address the unique needs of girls ages 6-18. Girls Inc. customizes the content for each age group to ensure that our programs are age-appropriate.

Girls Inc. programs align with one of three categories, which reflect the key words in our mission:

Strong, Healthy Relationships – Girls identify communication tools to manage anger or hurt feelings and express what it means to be a good friend. Girls describe components of healthy living that ensure properly functioning female health.

Smart College and Career Planning – Girls identify a career or educational goal they could pursue in order to become economically self-sufficient. Girls practice basic money management skills.

Bold, Empowered Girls – Girls transform gender-stereotyped messages into gender-equitable messages and think critically about the media they consume. Girls identify strategies for preventing violence and increasing personal safety.

Service Model

By partnering with schools and community organizations, we can offer our educational and empowering programs to girls at their facilities. By utilizing teams of well-trained volunteers to lead these programs, we minimize our overhead expenses. Our innovative approach allows us to maximize our reach in the greater Indianapolis community, serving thousands of girls with quality programming each year. Learn more about what we do.

Our programs are delivered over the course of 4-6 weeks in one-hour sessions. They are delivered by trained volunteer facilitators, and are offered on a seasonal basis (winter, spring, summer, and fall).
