Since the new year began, we’ve been getting calls and emails inquiring about summer camp. Even though it’s ridiculously cold outside, people are still looking ahead to the sunny days of summer and the joys of summer camp for their girls. It seems like we all need something to look forward to on these cold, dark days, and our summer camp is definitely an awesome activity to look forward to!

After I responded to one grandparent who wanted more information about our summer camps, she replied again with this inspiring message: “Thanks Jessica for the information.  I have 2 daughters that were involved with Girls Inc. when they were younger. They are both now in their 20’s and still remember the fun they had there.  I do believe it really did enrich their lives.  Now I am looking forward to putting my granddaughter in the program. She just turned 6.”

I love hearing things like this about former Girls Inc. girls! It’s amazing to think about the lasting impact of our programs, and the fact that Girls Inc. has been in Indianapolis long enough to serve girls who have now become strong, smart and bold women, and who are sending their daughters to the Girls Inc. summer camp.

This grandparent’s response also reminded me of the lasting impact of the events in our childhood. Even though camp lasts only a few weeks, the lessons learned and happy memories made during that time can last into adulthood for our Girls Inc. girls.
