The text is simple, the message is simple.
In honor of International Children’s Book Day yesterday I can’t think of any other children’s book that best illustrates my adult life! Growing up my Mom read to my brothers and me on a daily basis. While we read many different types of books, my favorite was The Little Engine That Could by Watty Piper. My Mom would always make us repeat those famous words with her, “I think I can…I think I can… I think I can.”

This theory of, “I think I can… I think I can… I think I can…” has gotten me through some tough times in my adult life. It encourages all of us to keep working through challenges so that we can become champions of our goals and future. Can you imagine that a quote from a children’s book has carried me through this crazy world? My story illustrates the importance of literacy and the importance of children’s books all over the world! Every child should be able to hold their very favorite book in their hands and carry it with them throughout their lifetime.
I challenge each of you to be an advocate for literacy by donating books or reading to children – I think you can … I think you can … I think you can!
