News and Events

On August 26th of each year, we celebrate the ratification of the Nineteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which officially gave women the right to vote in 1920. Before this, women did not have a voice in decisions made in our country. The introduction of the 19th Amendment was a huge step toward women’s equality, and we continue to celebrate that step today.

We have made many strides toward gender equality since the introduction of the 19th Amendment, but there is still work to be done. Continuing to get involved each year shows commitment to continued progress toward equality.

Participate in the Women’s Equality Day March

Each year, groups across the country host marches to commemorate Women’s Equality Day, with many of them also giving donations to local women’s groups and shelters. These marches are one of the larger-scale events held in celebration of women’s equality.

For Indiana residents, a march will be held in Terre Haute on Monday August 27th from 5-8 p.m. You can register for the march and find out more information here.
