Choosing to Volunteer with Girls Inc.
“When I understood the mission of Girls Inc. it seemed like a match made in heaven. I have been lucky to have strong, smart, and bold female role models in my life and realize the impact that this has had on my education and career choices. I felt that it was important to “pay it forward” and I aspire to provide that for the girls that I work with.”

Favorite Part of Program to Lead
"I very much enjoyed teaching the girls about “put-ups”. In this session we had a put up party. Watching the girls give and receive compliments to their peers was quite an experience. Judging by facial expressions and reactions you could tell that feeling flattered and honored in this way was a new experience. As we moved our way around the circle the room turned into such a positive place. It was an amazing experience for all of us!”

Memory from Girl Inc. Program
"During our check-in session, one girl shared that she was feeling sad about the loss of her cousin at a very young age. Her strength in sharing her feelings about this with the group at her age shocked me. It reminded me how in tune girls are with their emotions and that our job as facilitators is to give them a forum to openly express this in a safe place and form healthy ways of dealing with these feelings.”
