Touchstone spotlight 1

Our 2017 Touchstone Awards fundraiser is right around the corner! On July 6, Girls Inc. of Greater Indianapolis will be honoring four strong, smart, and bold women who embody the mission of Girls Inc.: Elaine Bedel, Anita Harden, Cindy Hubert, and Donna Oklak. Each of these women have proven to be outstanding female leaders in the Indianapolis area and we are proud to honor them with the Touchstone Award. Maria Quintana, a 2015 Touchstone Honoree, is the 2017 Event Chairwoman. We will be highlighting each of our honorees in the coming weeks.

Every year since 1988, Girls Inc. of Greater Indianapolis has honored some of the most influential women in our community with a Touchstone Award. But what does that even mean? A touchstone was a black, siliceous stone formerly used to test the purity of gold and silver, or the strength and value of other stones.

Our signature award was named the Touchstone Award because the women we recognize have been tested time and again, and have continually risen to meet challenges. They have overcome obstacles in their pursuit of educational, professional, and personal goals, while contributing to our community in many ways. Girls Inc. recognizes female leaders with the Touchstone Award to symbolize our appreciation for their astounding contributions to the community and to honor their accomplishments.

The Touchstone Awards not only honors these amazing women, it also allows our summer camp participants the opportunity to see, hear and connect with these local role models. Each year, our Touchstone Honorees represent the type of leaders that our girls are striving to become.

The Touchstone Awards is our largest fundraising event of the year and will take place on July 6th from 11 AM to 1 PM at the JW Marriott. Before the awards program begins, there will be girls ready to talk to you about what they’ve learned in Girls Inc. as they present their interactive exhibit showcases. Following the girl exhibit showcases will be lunch, and lunch will be followed by the awards program! Tickets can be purchased here. Your ticket purchase will not only honor the exceptional women we’ve chosen as our 2017 Honorees, it will provide girls with life-changing programs that empower them to be healthy, educated and independent.

If you are unable to attend, please make a donation and invest in Girls Inc. of Greater Indianapolis. Together, we can inspire the next generation of female leaders!
